The mission of the CLDC is to insure the long-term viability of the area it serves by creating opportunities for economic and community development. the CLDC is intended to be a vehicle to initiate, research, develop, incubate, fund, manage and spin off projects, programs and businesses that allow the community to have empowerment, independence and control over its own future/destiny.
The best means for completing this mission is with a "Holistic Approach." Instead of believing that there is one "silver bullet" to make a community viable for renewal/reinvention we recognize and address a minimum of five (5) important areas:
- Community Development
- Economic Development
- Education
- Preservation/Resource Conservation
- New Technology Development/Implementation
Utilizing this approach allows integration and sense of balance within the cultural, business and social environments that make up of a community's identity.
